| Worldview Weekend Branson |
| 04.29.05 (8:31 pm) [edit] |
Tonight was worldview weekend Branson. We ran into a lot of free tickets for the event and we gave them out to many of our friends who will be able to benefit from the conference. We attended the conference, but like most conferences, we did not go into the hall to listen to the speakers. We just sat outside the whole night talking to people who were working at the boothes that were set up. Before we entered the building we said a short prayer asking the Lord Jesus Christ to allow us to talk to the right people, to bring the right people into our lives and to allow us to find favor in the eyes of all we come into contact with. The Lord sure did answer our prayers.
The first person we ran into immediately right when we walked in the door was a man by the name of Josh who worked for Summit Ministries out in Colorado Springs, Colorado. We very much support their ministry as we have actually been listening to Summit Ministry lectures for the past few weeks, brushing up on our Christian Biblical worldview. Our friend Greg Thompson got to attend an adult conference about a month or so ago and told Dr. David Noebel and his staff about Travis and I. He wanted us to attend the conference but they could only provide a $250 scholarship. We would have to come up with the remaining $500. Seeming that we are running a national campaign and still in debt from our training at Kanakuk Institute, it would not be a wise decision or feasible for us to attend.
We got to talk to Josh more about Summit and our personal testimony. We told him that training our generation in a Biblical worldview is our personal ministry and that we will be on college campuses next year with the Leadership Institute doing such ministry. He told us that we are the type of people they want out there and that they are going to get us out to Summit this summer regardless. So now Josh is the process of getting ahold of Dr. David Noebel to see if there is room for us and if they can cover our entire tuition. So Jesus Christ is good.
The next person we talked to was a man by the name of Don Wildmon who is the chairman of American Family Association. We introduced ourselves to him and his wife. Immediately we began to tell them our testimony of how we came to know the Lord Jesus Christ and how the Lord brought us out to Branson, Missouri and now the Lord has put on our heart to spread Jesus Christ and conservatism to the nation. They were blown away by our powerful testimony and we got Don's contact information. We made a big impression on them. When they left, Don's wife told us that we were a breath of fresh air. Wow, you do not know how many people after talking to us tell us that we are a breath of fresh air. Jesus Christ is so good.
Next we began to talk to a gentleman named Ryan Watson who was a recruiter for Liberty University Law School. Come to find out, he went to Indiana University with us and graduated the same year as us. Now he works for Liberty and is about to attend their Divinity school. It was so great talking to him about our personal testimony and about our experiences at Indiana University. He understood and could comprehend everything completely. Ryan even told us that he applied to be a Resident Assistant in the dormitories but did not get the position because of his conservative views and Biblical worldview. He was against homosexuality and did not answer correctly when asked about "Diversity" and "Tolerance." We told him about The Draft Pence Movement and he was very excited about it. We were talking to him about our good friend Adam and how he has aspirations of attending Law School. He told us that Liberty has full tuition scholarships available for the next two classes of students. Prayerfully Adam will be able to meet him tomorrow and talk to him more about this opportunity.
The next person we talked to was Rich Bott, co-owner with his father Dick, of Bott Radio. Bott Radio is a huge ministry reaching basically the entire midwest. We shared with him our personal testimony and how we want to share it with America. He wants to talk to us tomorrow about it. He seemed really excited. So please pray for this opportunity.
Then we talked to a man named Mark who is good friends with our good friend Randy Barr. Mark is actually an evangelist who shares the gospel to tourists in downtown Branson. He is actually in contact with American Center for Law and Justice about fighting a city ordinance that will disallow literature from being passed out on the public streets of downtown Branson. Mark actually saw the raw footage of the filming of our testimony on Spirit of America Hour. He kept asking Randy why our story hasn't hit the air yet. He was so impressed with our testimony that he said that he is willing to do whatever it takes to get it on air immediately. Thanks Mark, we really appreciate all your efforts.
We pray that men will come to know the Lord Jesus Christ from our testimony. That they will come to know that He is real and relentlessly pursues a personal relationship with us all. Jesus Christ is real in our lives and He continues to show it daily with the various people He brings into our lives to minister to. That is our mission to show the realness of Jesus Christ through our lives and through the Word of God.
Continue to pray for us as we will be meeting with several other important people this weekend. God Bless.

| Adam Retains Chairman of College Republicans |
| 04.28.05 (8:28 pm) [edit] |
Tonight was the last College Republicans meeting of the year at College of the Ozarks. There were officer elections for next year's group. Our good friend Adam is once again Chairman of the CR group. During the meeting we talked about plans for next year and Adam was talking about pushing Pence on campus along with several other events. Dr. Garey, who is one of the group's faculty advisors, began to tell us a story of how he saw Mike Pence out in Washington, D.C. He was on his way to the subway and saw Mike Pence getting out of his vehicle which was a six or seven year old explorer. He said Pence accidently set his car alarm off and was trying to shut it off. Then afterwards, the security guards all came to help Pence and they all were saying, "Hi Congressman Pence," "Hello Congressman Pence." They all loved and admired him, but Pence was so humble just like a regular guy. Then Dr. Garey said Pence walked up to Dr. Garey and Dr. Garey told him how he just heard him give a speech at David Barton's conference and how he did an amazing job. Dr. Garey said Mike Pence took the time to talk to him and was very humble.
Then Dr. Head, the other College Republican advisor, began to talk about going out to Freedom Fest this May in Las Vegas. Dr. Head and a few other faculty members will be making presentations at Freedom Fest about Natural Law. We too will be attending Freedom Fest with our good friend Brian Johnson.
We had a prayer meeting later on that turned out quite well. Chris Myer was there and he just got back from Orlando, Florida on a business trip. Chris's father owns Myer hotels in Branson and now Chris is involved in a ministry called cleanhotels.com that stops pornography from getting into hotels. He said he talked to several hotel owners down at the conference who were interested and involved in politics, and told them about Mike Pence. Slowly but surely the word of Mike Pence is getting out there.
Also, Jerry Lilley and his wife Carolyn were at the prayer meeting. They have been invited to attend The National Day of Prayer at the White House in Washington, D.C. They were invited by their friend who is a personal friend with Dr. James Dobson. They are going to be out in Washington, D.C. for an entire week. Tuesday they will be getting a Christian heritage tour from David Barton.
Please pray for their trip and for Chris Myer's ministry. Also, Gary Pence was there as well. Chris Myer heard that we were going to Worldview Weekend this weekend and gave us a whole bunch of free tickets. Brannon Howse, the president of Worldview Weekend, is staying at Myer Hotels and wanted Chris to help him promote and set up an event with Kirk Cameron at the Branson Mall. So now we have tickets to give to our good friends who would benefit from this Christian worldview training.
So please pray for us this weekend as there will be thousands of people all over the nation here at this event and many of the most conservative influential Christians will be there. Prayerfully we will be able to meet some influential people like Kerby Anderson and Star Parker. Please contact us if you need any tickets for Worldview Weekend.

| Marketplace Ministries |
| 04.28.05 (9:19 am) [edit] |
For the past few weeks we have been working at our good friend Jerry Lilley's resort Lilley's Landing in Branson. We have been helping them get ready for the summer by cleaning out air conditioner units, cutting the grass and repainting the cabins. We have been working specifically to pay off our debt to Kanakuk Institute. Prayerfully, we will be able to pay off our debt before the end of the summer.
Yesterday, our friend Jerry told us that his good friend was in town for a pastor's conference and wanted to speak to us. His friend is a close friend to Dr. James Dobson and I believe a retired military chaplain. He is a part of Marketplace Ministries, a ministry that sends pastors or chaplains out to local businesses to help them care for their employees and their family. You can check out Marketplace Ministries at www.marketplaceministries.com.
Jerry wanted us to stick around for lunch because he wanted to introduce us to his friend. Then he told us that all the pastors were eating lunch at the resort and that he wanted us to share our personal testimony with all the pastors. So we were afforded the opportunity to share with 15 or so men pastors from all over the nation our personal testimony of coming to know the Lord Jesus Christ as our personal savior and our radical change from being liberal communists to Christian conservatives. We told them our story of how we turned down all our Ph.D. offers and full fellowship offers to follow Jesus Christ. The Lord then opened a million doors to get us out to Branson, Missouri and to Kanakuk Institute to learn the word of God and to experience America for what it really is. Then we told them about how the Lord put on our heart to get Mike Pence elected for President in 2008 and how we've launched a full scale national draft movement.
It was well received and many of the men were touched and influenced by our testimonies. There were several "amens" hollered in the middle of our testimony and everyone personally greeted us and encouraged us after we were done. It was on the spot and not planned out, but that is how the Lord Jesus Christ works.
Now, there are several influential pastors from all over America who interact with and influence other influential businessmen who know about Mike Pence and what The Draft Pence Movement is all about.
Like we told them, this is not a political movement or a movement to get a man elected to office, but rather a movement that is dedicated to sharing with America Jesus Christ, biblical principles, our Christian heritage and family values. We are not about winning votes, but rather about changing souls and minds to come to the knowledge of Truth about Jesus Christ and Biblical Christian values.

| Good Morning Ozarks |
| 04.26.05 (6:51 pm) [edit] |
We woke up early this morning for another long day on The Draft Pence Movement. Every morning Adam's wife listens to the Charlie Ingraham show on 88.1 KLFC. KLFC is a Christian radio station that used to be owned by Pastor Jay Scribner of First Baptist Branson. He later sold the station to Herb Smith. Charlie Ingraham is a member of First Baptist church, and voluntarily hosts the Good Morning Ozarks morning talk show every morning.
About a month or so ago, we were talking to Charlie at a men's dinner at church and he asked us to come on his show to share our amazing testimony. We were able to do the show for an entire hour telling our powerful testimony of how we grew up poor and fatherless, raised by the streets and the government, went through public school systems and later on to secular liberal Indiana University where government paid our way. We later became intellectual scholars winning every scholarship and award available but after being saved by the power of Jesus Christ we turned from being liberal communists to being Christian conservatives. The show went well.
Even though I usually wake up to the morning show, this morning I actually took time to listen to the guest speaker. Today's guest was a lady by the name of Rose Martin. She also used to be a liberal whose life revolved around sinful living of drugs and alcohol. After being saved by the power of Jesus Christ and His ensealment of the Holy Spirit she radically turned into the hardest conservative. The Lord then called her to go out to Regent University in Virginia Beach, Virginia where she and her husband studied the Bible. There she started a radio program and just last year was called to come to Branson to start her ministry sharing with people about Heaven and Eternal Life.
We immediately ran over to the radio station to meet Rose. We met her and her husband and were able to sit down and discuss our stories. We were mostly interested in her radio station/show that she streams over the internet. She told us about it and said that we could do a demo on her equipment so that we can ship it out to radio stations. Travis and I have a heart to start a radio show on college campuses nationwide combating liberalism.
Please pray for this opportunity and for our vision of streaming a radio show on campuses nationwide destroying the misclaims of liberalism. Also, this weekend is Worldview Weekend in Branson. American Family Radio and Bott Radio, two Christian radio networks, will be there. Prayerfully we will be able to discuss with them our plans and get a chance to do some programs on their stations. Who knows what may come of it.

| House urged to lead on Social Security |
| 04.25.05 (6:19 pm) [edit] |
|
This article was published in the Washington Times.
Some House Republicans are asking their leaders for a shift in Social Security strategy, arguing that the House should move first on legislation that creates private accounts, instead of waiting for action from the Senate, where Republican leaders are unsure they can pass such a bill. " At least among my conservatives, there is a growing sense that the House should lead on creating a version of Social Security reform that reflects Republican priorities," said Rep. Mike Pence, Indiana Republican and chairman of the Republican Study Committee. "We're pressing our leaders," said Rep. Joe Pitts, Pennsylvania Republican. "Some of us feel we should go ahead and move on it and not wait for the Senate." T he Senate Finance Committee will hold a hearing tomorrow on various Social Security proposals, but Chairman Charles E. Grassley, Iowa Republican, already has expressed doubts that legislation with private accounts can make it through his panel, let alone the full Senate. " They need a push," Rep. Sam Johnson, Texas Republican, said of Republican senators who have been discussing options other than private accounts. M ost have thought the Senate would act first on Social Security, partly because the debate is farther along there, and partly because many House Republicans want to make sure the Senate can and will act. The fear has been that if the House takes a tough vote on a personal-accounts bill, but the Senate never acts, House members will be left alone to face the public in the 2006 midterm elections. G iven that concern, the House still won't act before knowing if the Senate can, one House Republican said. " [House Republican] leaders are fully aware of the historic difficulty that an off-year election presents to the majority party," the Republican said, speaking on the condition of anonymity. "So, the scenario of us marching into a Social Security canyon is not where they're at." B ut more House Republicans are pushing ahead with their own bills. Rep. Paul D. Ryan, Wisconsin Republican, introduced a Social Security bill last week along with Sen. John E. Sununu, New Hampshire Republican. A nd Mr. Johnson has ramped up efforts to promote his own personal-accounts bill. He said some members, including House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Bill Thomas, California Republican, are "fed up" with the Senate, which he called "dysfunctional." B oth Mr. Ryan's and Mr. Johnson's bills would create large private accounts intended to solve the system's long-term financial crisis. The idea is to divert a portion of the 12.4 percent Social Security payroll tax each worker pays into a private account to be invested. Over time, supporters say, the growth of those investments will allow workers to rely more on the private accounts, easing pressure on the Social Security system.

| America and Basketball |
| 04.24.05 (7:41 pm) [edit] |
As the sun was going down over the beautiful Ozark mountains my brother Travis and I went outside to mow the lawn. My buddy Adam, who we are staying with, has two lawn mowers. One with a motor and the other without a motor. So we split up duties and I took the back yard while Travis took the front. Mowing the grass and taking care of your own home is very American. We as Americans should take care of both the inside and outside appearance of our homes. Those who own their own homes usually take better care of them. And those who take care of their homes usually take better care of themselves. The neighborhood in turn looks good and others follow in suit, leading others to respect themselves, their neighbors and the property that the Lord has blessed us with. Taking care of your yard shouts of true American patriotism.
After finishing mowing the lawn, we took off to go to Branson middle school to play basketball. Every Sunday night, men from the community get together to play basketball. It is a great time to exercise and fellowship with others. Many of the men are solid Christ-believing followers while some are non-believers.
One regular player is a man by the name Steve Harting. He is the owner of Dick's 5 and 10, a local American shop that sells antiques and other valuable items. He is a strong conservative that believes in the traditional values of hard work and discipline. His 5 and 10 store is one of the last of its kind in America. Millions of people come to Branson to visit his shop yearly. Steve is an active community member who supports several local events. He usally is a sponsor for many events such as the NAIA Division II national basketball tournament that is held annually at College of the Ozarks. He usally sponsors an entire team and serves as a community liason to the team, taking them out to eat and showing them around town. Steve is a great guy who believes in maintaining and strengthening conservative American values in our communities, which is why he is such a strong advocate for The Draft Pence movement.
Oddly enough, this past week Mike Pence was on C-SPAN speaking about basketball and the love affair between the Hoosier state and its cherished game. Mike Pence clearly resonates with the American people and their daily lives. He is a true outsider, a called statesman who puts principles of faith and family first. Christian values, basketball and America. Mike Pence truly has the right combination for the great Hoosier leader to lead our nation.
God Bless

| American Conservative Union article on Mike Pence for President in 2008 |
| 04.23.05 (6:47 pm) [edit] |
History has shown that conservatism works every time it is actually tried and that nothing else works at all. As a guide, we have the principals of Ronald Wilson Reagan. Yet, for ten years, Republicans have slowly moved away from limited government into a government-first, careerist, get-reelected at any cost mentality. The 2008 Presidential election will decide if we maintain our conservative convictions or abandon them for perceived political gain. Most of us realize that our party must nominate a Reagan conservative who can articulate the values and philosophy that made America what it is today. We must draft, nominate, and elect both a true fiscal and social conservative. In my mind there really is only one choice: Mike Pence of Indiana.
I am a twenty two year old conservative living in Indiana and I have dedicated my life to drafting Mike Pence for the Presidency of the United States of America . After only two months, a thousand others have joined to insure that we have a Reagan conservative as our nominee. I believe there is a Reagan wing of our party made up of two major halves, Social and Fiscal conservatives (along with an immigration and second amendment wing). If the Reagan wing of our party hopes to prevent Rudy Giuliani or John McCain from receiving the nomination, then we must have a candidate who is acceptable to all of the Reagan constituency. We must have a true Fiscal and Social conservative; otherwise we split the Reagan wing in half. Our goal is to unite the Club for Growths of the world and The Family Research Councils of the world behind the same candidate early on. This united front will allow us to advance our conservative agenda that we know is the real key to electoral success.
Mike Pence is the chairman of the Republican Study Committee, which is the conservative caucus in the U.S. House of Representatives (and the largest caucus in government). He was elected to this position unanimously. He is one of the few (some say only) conservatives in Washington to actually fight for limited government. Pence has recently and repeatedly called for a roll back in our President's landmark (infamous) No Child Left Behind Act. Mike Pence voted against it at the time, and says we must roll it back now because Washington must have zero role in education; indeed we must abolish the Department Of Education. Now that is Reaganesque conservatism.
What even took more courage than this is when Mike Pence stood up to his President and his party leadership on the Medicare Prescription Drug Bill. He, in a Reagan-like way, went over his party's leadership and carefully articulated the dangers of socialized medicine and government interference in medical care. He, along with Pat Toomey, and John Shadegg led the revolt against the bill and came within two votes of defeating the largest increase in entitlement spending since the Great Society. To this day he calls for a immediate roll back of this expensive and irrational bill.
Mike Pence also has true Reagan ideas when it comes to United Nations reform, a line item veto, zero based budgeting, true immigration reform, right to life issues, abolishing the IRS for a consumption tax, Tort reform, etc etc.
Indeed, on every true Reagan style conservative reform, Mike Pence leads the way. When he came to Washington the GOP leadership so loved him they made him a part of the House leadership team by making him a deputy whip. Pence had instantly what most politicians take several terms to acquire and what did he do with this? He took on the leadership time after time on the side on conservatism and its principals. He doesn't care about his career, he cares about his country. This year, he resigned from the leadership saying "you can't serve two masters" How many so called conservatives these days would do that?
Ronald Reagan constant refrain was, "We must proclaim a banner of bold colors, no pale pastels." With this conservative platform we were able to limit government, strengthen families, and secure freedom. Republicans ran on a conservative Reagan platform in 1994 that would shock the world. Once in power we could finally complete the Reagan Revolution and get the Federal government off our backs and out of our daily lives, right? Apparently some Republicans had other ideas and thought a banner of bold colors would be politically dangerous.
Since 1996 the Federal budget has exploded and the Federal government has grown in every area. Just in the last four years we have seen from a "conservative" Congress and "conservative" President campaign finance reform, increases in funding for the NEA, proposed amnesty by another name for illegals, billions in dollars in aid to Africa that will not solve the problem, more of the same Sen. Ted Steven's pork. Wait a minute, it is not the same it is worse, a daisy cutter sized entitlement in Medicare that only makes things worse, a public takeover of airline security, Teddy Kennedy's NO Child Left Behind that only drags us further into educational socialism, steel tariffs that hurt our recovery, a 250 billion dollar farm bill, a proposed energy bill that even Nelson Rockefeller would think was extravagant and a highway bill that puts the P in Pork.
They say every great nation goes through the same cycle, from bondage to spiritual faith, from spiritual faith to liberty, from liberty to abundance, from abundance to selfishness, selfishness to complacency, complacency to apathy, apathy to dependency and dependency back to bondage. If we continue on the cycle toward big government dependency we only have ourselves to blame. In his 1975 Conservative Political Action Conference speech Ronald Reagan told us, "A political party cannot be all things to all men. It must represent certain fundamental beliefs, which must not be compromised to political expediency, or to simply swell its numbers. If there are those who cannot subscribe to these principals, THEN LET THEM BE ON THEIR WAY. In his keynote speech to the last year's CPAC, Pence said, "And conservatives know that if you reject these principles of limited government and urge others to reject them you can be my ally, you can be my friend but you cannot call yourself a conservative." Pence then added, "It's time for conservative Americans to do what Reagan did. It's time for conservative Americans to right the ship again."
The Gipper did his part, Pence is doing his, now it time we did ours. If we don't do it who will? If not now, when? If we don't right the ship and set it on the course away from big government and towards Faith, Family, and Freedom we might not ever get another chance. We must proclaim President Reagan's dream of an America that would always be a shining city on a hill and a beacon of freedom for the entire world. Now is the time to restart the Reagan Revolution.

| Family of the Week: The Thiessen's |
| 04.21.05 (7:41 pm) [edit] |
Adam Thiessen and his wife Alyson have been a major blessing for my brother and I and have been very intregal in The Draft Pence Movement. Adam is currently the president of the College Republicans at College of the Ozarks here in Branson, Missouri. Adam is one of the most active and hardest working conservatives I have ever met. He is involved in everything and constantly stays busy.
Adam and Alyson were married months after they graduated from high school. They have been married for over three years now. Both Adam's and Alyson's family are very conservative. Adam was born in California. His dad, Gordon, was big time with Fellowship of Christian Athletes and now runs his own publishing company in Nebraska. His dad also works full time with Mission Nebraska, a statewide organization that helps needy families across the Husker state. Adam has one younger brother and two sisters. His oldest sister is 23 and is about to graduate this next month with a doctorate degree in physical therapy. His brother Josh, a good friend of ours as well, just graduated from high school last year and is about to graduate from college next month.
Alyson has two sisters and now two younger adopted brothers. Her family recently adopted two young boys from the communist country of China. Conservative Americans, such as myself, are pro-adoption. They spent well over $50,000 to adopt the two children, but it was a small price to pay for freedom away from the slavery of communism.
Adam, as stated earlier, is the hardest working conservative we have met. He is currently taking 20 hours of classes in college, working two jobs, serves as president of the College Republican group, recently ran for student senate, and takes care of his wife and home, Not to mention that he still finds time to get involved with other conservative causes such as The Draft Pence Movement. Last semester during the 2004 elections, he gave financially (even though he is a struggling college student) to various candidates and organizations. He subscribes to several conservative publications such as Human Events and is a premium member of several websites such as the O'Reilly Factor. Adam is a committed conservative.
They have now opened up their doors to us and have allowed us to stay in their home with them for the next few months as we are in a transitional stage. We now eat dinner together every night as a family. Tonight we listened to John MacArthur during dinner and usually we listen to David Noebel's Summit Ministries series. The Thiessen's are dedicated Christians who serve the Lord Jesus Christ in all they do. They are true Americans who work hard and put their faith in the Lord. Adam wants to go to seminary at the master's college, earn a law degree, own his own law firm, and eventually be a Christian statesman serving the American people. His wife's most important aspiration is to be a loving wife and an amazing mother. The Thiessen's have their priorities straight. I praise the Lord that these are the American people who will lead our great nation back to the hands of God.

| A Conservative Takes the Side of the Press on Shield Law |
| 04.19.05 (5:14 pm) [edit] |
This article is from the New York Times.
WASHINGTON - In the highly charged partisan atmosphere here, many Republicans are skeptical of, if not outright hostile to, the so-called liberal media. Against this backdrop, a Midwestern Republican has unexpectedly emerged as an ally of the Fourth Estate.
Representative Mike Pence, a Republican from Indiana who is also chairman of the conservative caucus in the House, has become the strongest advocate of a federal shield law to protect journalists from having to reveal sources. Mr. Pence, 45, once hosted a talk radio show in Indianapolis. And while he hastened to say in an interview that he did not consider himself a journalist, he said he had worked with reporters long enough to be sympathetic to their cause.
"I interacted with journalists and I developed a lot of respect for what they do," Mr. Pence said.
On Feb. 2 he introduced a bill, backed by the newspaper industry, to set national standards for federal officials to meet before they can subpoena reporters in a federal case. It also says that reporters cannot be compelled to reveal confidential sources. Thirty states have similar laws.
The bill, he said, reflects his conservative view that federal power should be limited. "I really believe the only check on government power is a free and independent press," he said. "This is an opportunity to pound some rivets around the First Amendment."
His support comes at precarious time for reporters trying to keep sources confidential. In February, a three-judge panel of the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit ordered two reporters, Judith Miller of The New York Times and Matthew Cooper of Time magazine, jailed for as long as 18 months in an effort to force them to reveal their sources in a case involving the disclosure of the identity of a covert intelligence officer, Valerie Plame. The reporters remain free as they pursue appeals.
Mr. Pence said that his fellow Republicans were teasing him because of his support for the bill. "They've been saying to me that when The New York Times and The Washington Post both endorsed the bill, this was a sign of the end of life as we know it," he said with a laugh. "They say this will help the liberal press," and they want no part of it.
"But I say this is bigger than liberal or conservative, bigger than arguments over whether the press is fair or not," he said. "Those questions should be answered in the marketplace of ideas."
For all of his passion, Mr. Pence has managed to attract just 17 co-sponsors to his bill, eight Republicans and nine Democrats. He said that as part of his continuing effort to get a hearing on the bill, he would meet this week with members of the Judiciary Committee and the Justice Department.
But he has an important ally on his side - Senator Richard G. Lugar, also an Indiana Republican, who has introduced the same bill in the Senate. It has five co-sponsors, four Republicans and one Democrat.
Mr. Pence said he was not discouraged. "This is the kind of issue that will take a great deal more public attention for it to reach critical mass in Congress," he said. "We've just begun to engage."

| First Day in New Journey |
| 04.18.05 (5:27 pm) [edit] |
|
Today begins the first day in our new journey and the next step in our life. We moved out today from Holiday Hills, a condo complex where we stayed this entire year. We are officially done with the Kanakuk Institute. Yesterday was our graduation ceremony where many families and community members were there in full support of the graduates.
It was actually the first graduation ceremony my brother and I attended. Of course, we did not attend the graduation ceremony at Indiana University, a full-blown secular socialist institution that does nothing but mold students to be far left activists. We left IU as soon as we could with no looking back.
My brother and I also did not participate in our high school graduation ceremony because we were one of only a few of our close friends and peers to graduate from high school. Over 200 of our close friends and classmates did not graduate. So to honor them and also to honor the Lord Jesus Christ, I wrote all the names of our fallen classmates who did not graduate on my robe along with a cross, scripture and the words Jesus Christ written on my tassel. Police officers stopped me from entering the building because of my robe and the Christian words that were written on it. So instead of participating in my high school graduation, I made a stand for Jesus Christ and stood outside of our gym.
So yesterday’s graduation was our first and it was a very nice one. We invited several of our friends to attend. Mr. Brian Sietz along with his two sons Daniel and Taylor, Jerry and Carolyn Lilley, Adam and Alyson Thiessen, Dave and Mary Kay Janke, and the Tillack family all attended. They called each student up individually to receive their certificate. In addition to calling each student’s name they also said what we plan on doing in the near future. For Travis and I it read “The Draft Pence Movement.” Many people in the crowd knew what The Draft Pence Movement was and they were already on the team, but others were not so familiar with it.
After the ceremony was a reception. During this reception, we met and talked with several families. All the families were amazing and were strong conservatives. We talked with Jay Danner, a true American entrepreneur who lives in Indianapolis, Indiana and used to own Danner department store in Columbus, IN. We talked to him earlier in the movement and he already knew all about Mike Pence and how strong of a conservative he is. He was good friends with a person who worked with Mike Pence when Pence was the president of a conservative think tank in Indiana. All his friend did was talk about how amazing Mike Pence was. Jay Danner talked with us and told us that he did not realize how serious we were about The Draft Pence Movement until he seen us on stage. Now he knows that we are serious and he knows that Mike Pence knows about The Draft Pence Movement and the growing support nationwide for his presidency in 2008. He then told us that Branson, Missouri is the center of the Red states. We all laughed because it is true and we know that it is going to be our national headquarters for this national conservative movement.
We also talked with several other families who are very supportive of our efforts and of Mike Pence for president in 2008. We now have families of strong support in states such as Idaho, Nebraska, Texas, Iowa and Florida. It was an amazing day for us and for The Draft Pence Movement.
God Bless

| Pence Hails House Vote to Permeantly Repeal Death Tax |
| 04.18.05 (1:48 pm) [edit] |
Washington, Apr 18 - U.S. Congressman Mike Pence hailed Congress' recent action to bury the death tax once and for all. The measure passed in the House this afternoon by a vote of 272-162.
“No tax has done more harm to small businesses and family farms than the death tax. It’s time for Congress to end the death tax once and for all.
“The death tax, was enacted in 1916 primarily to raise revenues for World War I, but also because Congress thought it should prevent the transmission of wealth inequalities through inheritance. Last I checked, however, World War I is long over and there is something terribly wrong with taxing dead people. In fact, it is downright harmful to a capitalist economy like ours.
“Unfortunately, even though we’ve voted to repeal the death tax before, it is down but not out. Because of an antiquated rule in the Senate, it will rear its ugly head in full in 2011. That is why we must vote to fully repeal the death tax today.
“This is perhaps the most disgraceful tax levied by the federal government. It punishes people who work hard, take risks and invest in farms and small businesses.
“The death tax kills economic growth. It is therefore imperative that we pass this bill today and bury the death tax once and for all.”
Background If Congress does not act the Death Tax will come back into effect, placing an unnecessary burden on our nation's economy. H.R. 8, the Death Tax Repeal Permanency Act of 2005 will remove the expiration or "sunset" provision of the death tax repeal from the Economic Growth and Tax Relief Reconciliation Act of 2001, which provided $1.35 trillion in tax relief for America's workers.

| American"Ride for Love" |
| 04.16.05 (6:21 pm) [edit] |
|
We woke up early this morning as the sun was rising over the Ozarks. We drove up to Humansville, Missouri to meet our dear friend Greg Thompson. Greg is a former superintendent of Humansville School system and was fired for keeping the Ten Commandments up in his office. This event gained national recognition as Mr. Thompson fought the school system as hard as he could. After this event, the Lord Jesus Christ opened up his eyes and allowed him to see what is going on in our nation, our public school systems and in our American culture. Mr. Thompson then decided to go into full time ministry launching an organization called America Asleep kNOw More which calls the church and America to wake up and quit being silent while liberals, socialists, atheists, secular humanists, and communists take over our nation.
We met Greg Thompson in Branson the first weekend we came back from Christmas break. Now Greg is a good friend of ours and wants us to be an official member of America Asleep kNOw More. There was a special event going on today at his office in Humansville. He was having a statewide open house and a send-off celebration for an American couple that will be riding horseback across our nation for the next year and a half to promote Godly principles and values for our nation. Dixon and Gayle Hayes are the riders that will go around our great nation in what they call “Ride for Love” and spread the glorious message of Jesus Christ.
The Humansville Star Leader reads: “Combining a love of horses and riding with a love for God and people, they are determined to share the good news of Jesus Christ in a unique way by riding across America, encouraging people to stand up for the things that mean the most to them. They have four specific goals: To spread the good news of Jesus Christ, create a grassroots awareness of critical issues facing families, society, and government today, encourage people to stand up for the values they hold dear, and collect signatures on petitions which reflect the conservative values that were the original intent of the founding fathers of our nation.”
It was a great day. We drove to the outskirts of town to welcome the couple and to ride on horse into the city. We all gathered together in a circle in the middle of the road to pray before Dixon, Gayle and Greg all rode back into town on horseback. We all ate lunch back at the office with several other committed Christian Americans from all over the state of Missouri.
After this great event we had to drive back to Branson in order to film a show for Spirit of America Hour with our dear friend Randy Baar. We made it to the show in time and sat quietly waiting for the shooting to begin. Randy came in and introduced us to his crew. After that we got on stage and sat on the stools in the middle of the stage. They only had two chairs so we had to use stools. They then miked us up and we were ready to go. We filmed the show in about an hour. It went really well. We just shared our personal testimony and told them how the Lord brought us out to Branson, Missouri for a purpose and a plan. Randy did a great job commenting and asking questions. At the end of the show Travis prayed for the audience and said a sinner’s prayer asking for repentance and acceptance of Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior.
The show was a success. We don’t know when it will be aired but sometime within the next month. Prayerfully, millions of people will see it statewide and accept Jesus Christ as their personal Savior.
Please pray for this and the opportunity for this show to go nationwide, which looks like a real possibility. Also continue to pray for the American riders, for the nation to wake up, and for this movement.
God Bless

| Mike Pence gains recognition on National Tax Day! |
| 04.15.05 (3:33 pm) [edit] |
The following statement was issued today by Pat Toomey, President of Club for Growth.
Since income taxes are due today, we thought you could use some cheerful news on an otherwise awful day.
First, the House voted earlier this week to permanently repeal the dreaded Death Tax. With the gains made in the Senate last year, we've now got our best chance ever to pass this bill through the upper chamber so President Bush can finally sign it into law. Stay tuned...
Second, it appears the Senate may soon get a lesson from freshman Senator Tom Coburn on fiscal restraint (Coburn was elected last year with outstanding Club for Growth member support of over $1 million in donations).
In the days ahead, a large emergency military spending bill will be debated on in the Senate. Since this is a must-pass bill, many spendthrift senators are licking their chops at the opportunity to stuff it with egregious pork. Dr. Coburn is going to rightfully make a stink about this reckless behavior. As reported in Congress Daily, "Coburn said Monday to expect 'lots of fun' on the [Senate] floor..."
We can hardly wait...
Finally, a handful of Club-backed lawmakers, led by Congressman Mike Pence of Indiana, secured a nice victory in the House a few weeks back.
Each spring Congress adopts a sober spending plan with the clear-eyed resolve of a heart patient swearing off deep-fried Twinkies. But when it comes to actually spending the money, Congress loses its resolve, eating the Twinkies despite the economic health hazards.
Determined to make conservative principles stick like a fishbone in the majority's collective throat, Mike Pence and like-minded House conservatives, including Club-supported Members Paul Ryan (Wis.), Jeb Hensarling (Texas) and Jeff Flake (Ariz.), threatened to deny House leadership the majority required to pass the budget bill... unless the House adopted a key change in the rules.
In the past, budget-breaking appropriations routinely went undebated. That's where the good guys come into the story.
It took a closed-door meeting of the House Republican Conference, but, in the end, Mike and the Gang-of-25 prevailed.
Describing the debate rule adopted, Mike Pence said, "If any one of the ten appropriations bills exceeds the budget, any Member of Congress would be able to raise a point of order and that would be subject to debate and vote."
While this doesn't exactly put the brakes on the spendthrift express, it has the effect of sounding a horn at every level crossing. And lawmakers with a yen to throw fiscal discretion to the wind will be forced to do so in the broad light of day.
If you'd like to be kept up-to-date on more economic news, be sure to visit our blog. I hope you survive Tax Day and enjoy the weekend ahead.
Best Regards, Pat

| Pence: An American Tradition |
| 04.14.05 (7:11 pm) [edit] |
|
We just got out of our weekly prayer meeting. We have invited several people from the Branson community to join a prayer team to pray for a Christian revival in America, for Mike Pence for President in 2008, and for our local community. We have met several times and each week the Lord Jesus Christ never fails to bring amazing people into our lives and bless us with the encouragement that we get from our local supporters.
Tonight a man by the name of Gary L. Pence came to our prayer meeting. In all honesty our prayer meetings have been very small, but they have been very effective. There are certainly the faithful and committed few that are a part of this movement and believe 110% in everything that is taking place before our very eyes. Chris Myer and Dave Janke were there tonight along with Travis and I.
When we introduced ourselves to Gary, we thought we heard wrong when he said his last name was Pence. Then we asked him again and he said Pence. He then asked what the prayer group was all about. We then shared with him how we want to gather to pray for a Christian revival in America and for Mike Pence for President in 2008. He then said that he knows Mike Pence and has been in contact with his office. Travis and I just looked at each other in amazement. Usually, nobody from Branson has heard about Mike Pence unless they hear about him first from us.
Then Gary Pence told us the story of how he came to know about Mike Pence. He said he was in Branson one time on vacation and attended First Baptist church, which is where I attend. He met Congressman Roy Blunt, House majority whip, who is a member of our church that Sunday. Then he left on a flight back to his home in Atlanta, Georgia. He then recognized that he was on the same flight with Roy Blunt. He re-introduced himself and they began to talk about politics. Hearing Gary’s last name, Blunt told him about Mike Pence. According to Gary, it seems like Roy Blunt is a big supporter of Mike Pence. Gary was telling us how they have been working together on bills in D.C.
Now the Lord has brought Gary to Branson to retire and live closer to his grandchildren. We told him about how we believe the Lord is setting the stage for Branson to lead a Christian revival in America. And he looked at me and said I believe you are right. This is the most conservative, patriotic place in America. God is put first in this community. Divinely enough, Branson is the fastest growing community in America, bringing over 8 million visitors here a year. The Lord truly has His hand over this community.
He then told us that immediately when he heard about a Mike Pence candidacy for 2008 he believed in it. He never thought about Mike Pence for President until he heard Chris Myer tell him at church that we have gathered to pray for his election. He said he had been following Pence for about a year and has been highly impressed with him. He then began to talk about the end times, which is so strange because we have been studying the book of Revelation this entire week in class. He said, we don’t know when the rapture or Christ’s second coming is going to take place, but it looks like the Lord wants Mike Pence to be the spiritual leader during the end times to be a catalyst for His people and His Kingdom. Travis and I just looked at each other in amazement because that is exactly how we feel about the way the Lord is shaping things. Mike Pence has been called to be a catalyst for the saints and for the Church. No matter where we stand on the issue of when the end times are coming, we know for certain that the Lord calls us to continue faithfully in the work He has called us to do which is to spread the message of Jesus Christ and win people to the Cross. That is the message and heart of this movement and of Mike Pence.
Then Gary began to tell us about how the Pence name is well known and respected throughout the history of America. The Pence family began in the eastern part of America, throughout Pennsylvania and Virginia. He said the Pence name and family is rich in American tradition. Gary told us how there were Pence’s who served as Generals in the military during the Revolutionary War and War of 1812. Pence is an American legacy.
After the prayer meeting, we were able to discuss more with Gary. He is a strong conservative activist. He said he stood on the steps of the state courthouse in Montgomery, Alabama and read scripture calling America to keep God first. He told us of how he personally talked to Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist. According to Gary, Frist, while discussing the issue of abortion, told him that he was against abortion and that there needs to be laws prohibiting the practice after 23 weeks. We all agreed that 23 weeks was too long as we all believe Life begins at conception and at the beginning of the foundation of the Earth. Mike Pence sure feels the same way about Life as we do. We all agreed that Frist is a great guy but not strong enough on the social issues to be our nation’s leader.
Gary was so enthused and wanted to start his own weblog. He is adamant about debunking the theory of evolution and sharing the message of how evolution is utterly destroying the lives of millions of American children in our public school systems. We are right behind Gary. Our public school systems must be turned over to the local and state governments to give power back to parents so that they can determine what type of education our American children will receive. Once power is localized, communities can once again place prayer, God, true history, true science, discipline and Biblical principles back into our school systems. This is what America and our children are so desperately in need of.
Well, Gary was a major blessing to us and God is always faithful. Whenever our spirits may get low, the Lord brings another person into our lives to lift us right back up and give us encouragement. Gary Pence believes in a Christian revival and a Mike Pence candidacy for 2008. Do you? We’re calling for your support.
God Bless

| House to Consider Repeal of Death Tax This Week |
| 04.13.05 (9:30 am) [edit] |
Washington, Apr 12 - (photo: Pence talks with farmers in Middletown. August 2004.)
U.S. Congressman Mike Pence plans to support the House of Representatives' efforts this week to permanently repeal the Death Tax, an unfair burden on our nation's small businesses and family farms.
"In 2001, Congress and President Bush temporarily spared America's farmers, small businessmen, and families from the unfair and unjust death tax," said Pence. "This week, the House will move to do so once and for all by permanently repealing it."

| We Are God's Workmanship, prepared for good works |
| 04.12.05 (6:44 pm) [edit] |
|
Today was another great day in America and in the beautiful Ozarks. This week for class we are studying the book of Revelation. Our teacher is Bernard Bourque from Denton Bible Church in Denton, Texas. Many of our teachers are from Denton Bible and many are graduates of Dallas Theological Seminary. Bernard is a great guy with a great passion for teaching the Word of God.
Bernard has an amazing testimony. He was in his thirties and was a big time partier with all his friends. One night before he and his buddies were about to go out partying, Bernard’s friend tried to call another buddy of theirs but instead called a wrong number. After hanging up, he tried again. He redialed the same wrong number and the guy on the other end began to tell Bernard’s friend about having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. They talked on the phone for forty-five minutes and at the end Bernard’s friend accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior.
Bernard’s friend was so excited after he hung up the phone and then he said, “Let’s go party.” He partied for two weeks straight, alcohol, drugs, girls, etc. After two weeks he went to Bernard and all his other friends and said, “I can not party anymore. I can’t explain it but I’m a brand new man and something won’t let me party anymore.” He immediately gave up everything, the drugs, the alcohol, the girls, and the parties.
Bernard was in shock because his good friend was the biggest partier he knew, and there was nothing that could ever get him to stop partying. Then just after his friend’s radical change, Bernard was broken down and humbled by Jesus Christ. Bernard was living with his girlfriend at the time. She moved out and took everything with her. There was nothing left in the house. Bernard came home, seen the empty house and began to lay down on the bare floor thinking about his life. He then remembered his friend accepting Jesus Christ into his heart as his personal savior and he saw the radical change. Bernard then felt Jesus Christ calling him to accept Him as his personal savior, so he did that day on the floor of his empty bedroom.
The Lord then immediately got him into seminary down at DTS and allowed him to be discipled by Tommy Nelson, who is the head pastor of Denton Bible. Now, Bernard is a phenomenal teacher of the Word. He is now married with two children and is the associate pastor of Denton Bible while also being a head pastor of another local church. Bernard is a favorite at the Institute.
After Bernard taught the class on revelation, we had student teachers. It was my day to speak in class. Each student teacher speaks for fifteen minutes. This was my third time speaking this year. My first talk was titled, “What are we seeking?: Godliness or Fun” It was a talk that was full of scripture rebuking the worldly behavior of pleasure seeking Christians. It was basically a Vernon Robinson speech with a Mike Pence tone of voice. It wasn’t too well received. My second talk was titled, “Seek His Kingdom First” where I just shared my personal testimony on how Christ saved me and has provided for me. This talk was well received.
Today I spoke about Ephesians 2:10 that states, “For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” I then told them how Travis and I have been prepared to do the good works of leading the Draft Pence Movement. I just spoke on how Jesus Christ has allowed us to find favor in the eyes of all who we come into contact with, how He has opened a million doors for us to speak to others, and how people come up to us to provide opportunities to further this movement. Usually after talks we have a discussion time where students can ask questions or make comments. After my talk, our director Keith Chancey came to the front of the class and said, “There is nothing we can say. This is all of the Lord. All I can do is continue to pray for you guys, because the Lord Jesus Christ is going to do amazing things through you.”
After my talk, I went to sit back down in my seat. Another student in the Institute named Ellie Mae Morris had her mother attending class with us this week. Her mother, Unis, is visiting for the week and staying for our graduation ceremony on Sunday. She tapped me on my shoulder and handed me a little sheet of paper. On it were words that read, “In pairs I send you out. You have my favor wherever you go in my name. The path has already been prepared for you, trust me. Watch out for wolves in sheep’s clothing. Do not become distracted, but stick to the plan.” “Watch me work my wonders.”
On the paper was Isaiah 43, but I could not find the exact scripture. These words sound all too familiar but for some reason I can not quite locate them yet. Unis then told us that she can be our home in Florida if we are ever down there. Well, today was another good day that the Lord allowed us to share His vision of a Christian revival in America and a Mike Pence candidacy for 2008. Continue to pray for this movement.
God Bless

| Family of the Week: The Hudspeth's |
| 04.11.05 (6:24 pm) [edit] |
|
Tonight we ate at our dear friend Anthony Hudspeth’s home with his wife Tiffany. Anthony is our closest friend in the Kanakuk Institute. Anthony used to be my roommate last semester when he was still engaged to his wife. They were married in December and second semester they moved out into a home out in the country. Anthony is older than my brother and me. He is 34 years old. He is a strong Christian conservative who has been well discipled. This is actually his fourth discipleship program. He was discipled at Denton Bible Church in Denton, Texas where he is from. Anthony is a disciple maker with a real heart for discipling youth. If it wasn’t for Anthony, Travis and I would have left the institute a long time ago.
Anthony is a Black conservative who grew up similar to my brother and me. His entire family is Democrat and he grew up embracing the worldly culture that is so prevalent and valued in many communities across our nation. He was then saved by the Lord Jesus Christ and called to be a disciple. Anthony is a true conservative who has given up his former worldly lifestyle. He is very respectful, humble, orderly and proper in all that he does, particularly his speech, his appearance, and the way he addresses others. Anthony has been a great role model for my brother and me. Travis and I were conservative politically because my close friend Chris discipled us after our radical conversion, but Anthony has become conservative politically because of his knowledge of the Word of God.
When we eat at their home, we usually go into the living room to sit down with Anthony and talk with him. He usually ends up sharing a lot of wisdom with us. While, we are in the living room talking, Anthony’s wife Tiffany is in the kitchen preparing the meal and setting the table. Tiffany always prepares wonderful meals that are very filling. Tonight she fixed chicken casserole, corn, beans, and hot biscuits with butter. She never fails to fix dessert as well. Tonight we had brownies with vanilla ice cream. This Christian family is very warm, welcoming and understand completely the lost art of hospitality. They are kind and joyful whenever we are in their presence. They are always sincere, kind and caring. They are newly weds who are struggling financial ly but through their heart for the Lord are very generous.
Tiffany’s family is very conservative. They now live in Denton, Texas where they met, but they have moved around a lot throughout the nation. In fact, Tiffany’s family used to live in Seymour, Indiana, which is the county just south of my hometown where my brother and I used to hang out with some of our childhood friends. The Sears family is so conservative that on top of their own six children, they adopted another six children from communist Russia. The Sears family has sacrificed thousands of dollars to adopt the children on top of thousands of dollars to raise the children. They are training these former communist children in the ways of the Lord with the disciplining, rebuking, and exhorting necessary for strong Christian children.
We were talking tonight about Anthony’s future. He has a real heart for inner city ministry, but because he is so conservative, others do not feel like he would be a good fit working with inner city youth. This upsets me so dearly because it is true Christian conservative men like Anthony that these inner cities need the most. People talk to my brother and me and would never believe the horror stories that we went through growing up on the streets without a father or any parental guidance. They see us and think that we know nothing about the streets or about the sinful culture that is promoted on the streets. But this is so far from the truth. It is people like Anthony and us who have been radically changed by Christ because we have been willing to surrender our entire lives to Christ and be conformed to His likeness. People do not understand the things we went through in our former lives and feel we can not relate to them because we are mature conservative Christians. Well, I’m sorry, but youth regardless of where they are from, what they’ve been through, or what worldly and sinful culture they embrace, they need Christian conservative men in their lives discipling them and teaching them how to be men of honor, respect, discipline, orderliness, and soundness. The world will never understand men like us, but Jesus Christ will reward our faithfulness.
All semester we have gathered at the Hudspeth’s home for dinner to eat and to fellowship. Usually our conversations have to do with conservatism and furthering the Kingdom of God. Dinners are amazing. We get to talk to one another about what is going on in our lives, what God has been teaching us through His word, and what we can do to further seek Him and expand His Kingdom. Families and friends grow closer by breaking bread, praying and talking together. The dinner table is where this Christian conservative movement is going to gain strength. Eating at the dinner table as a family with prayer and discussion is what must take place in American homes for our families to be strengthened. No longer is eating at the dinner table with our family valued anymore. In fact, growing up not once did we ever sit together as a family at the dinner table and eat dinner. Not even on Thanksgiving. The children would be in the other room watching television while all the adults would be around the table. Americans must begin to once again gather at the dinner table, to pray together as a family, and talk to one another to first form then strengthen our familial relationships. We must turn off our televisions and tune into our family. Dinner is the most important time of the day.

| Mike Pence Pays Tribute to Indiana Native Killed in Afghanistan |
| 04.11.05 (1:35 pm) [edit] |
Washington, Apr 11 - (Pence hands out holiday greeting cards to Hoosier troops in Afghanistan. December 2004.)
Congressman Mike Pence paid tribute recently to Indiana Army National Guard Master Sergeant Michael Hiester of Bluffton, Ind., on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives. Master Sergeant Hiester was killed while serving in Operation Enduring Freedom. Pence’s remarks follow:
"It is written if you owe debts, pay debts; if honor, then honor; if respect, then respect.
"I rise humbly today to pay a debt of honor and respect to Army National Guard Master Sergeant Mike Hiester of Bluffton, Indiana.
"As I saw firsthand last December at Camp Phoenix in Kabul, Afghanistan, Hoosiers have made an extraordinary difference for freedom in Operation Enduring Freedom, and Master Sergeant Mike Hiester was a leader of men in that place.
"On March 26, 2005, Mike lost his life while fighting to defend America in Afghanistan. His military vehicle, with the 76th Infantry Brigade, Army National Guard, Indianapolis, struck a land mine 30 miles west of Kabul, Afghanistan claiming his life and the lives of three other Indiana Army National Guardsmen.
"At his home in Bluffton, Indiana he was known as a loving husband and father. He was a member of the Bluffton Fire Department and he will not soon be forgotten by this grieving community of Bluffton which will say goodbye to him this week.
"I rise to offer my deepest condolences to his wife, Dawn; his two children, Emily and Adam; his parents Thomas and Kay Hiester; his two sisters, Megan and Michele and all those across northeastern Indiana and all of our state who cherish the memory of this hero.
"Master Sergeant Michael Hiester is a hero, whose service and sacrifice bolstered the hopes of millions of Americans and Afghanis. The memory of his sacrifice and service will forever be emblazoned on the hearts of two grateful nations."

| A Message of Hope and Inspiration |
| 04.10.05 (9:09 pm) [edit] |
|
Sunday, the Sabbath, the Lord’s day. It was a day of rest and a day of blessing.
Today was the last Sunday that our youth pastor Ryan Lankford was going to be at First Baptist Branson. So our church family threw a going away party in honor of him and his wife for their outstanding and amazing service to our church, our youth and our community. The party was well attended by several committed families of the church, many of whom are firm supporters of Mike Pence and The Draft Pence Movement. Ryan has been called to Raytown Baptist church near the Kansas City area to lead their worship and to pursue some other ministry opportunities. It is great because Ryan has been well discipled and is sound in his doctrinal stances and beliefs. Ryan has been a major blessing to our church and to the youth within it.
After the going away event, my brother Travis and I went over to the College of the Ozarks to check our email. College of the Ozarks, better known as C of O, was named by Young America’s Foundation as one of the top ten conservative colleges in America. Please pray for this school as the history and science department have been infiltrated by liberal, anti-American, pro-communist professors who want to undermine the Word of God and lead Christian students astray. Please pray that this school continues to stand for American and Godly principles that glorify our Lord Jesus Christ.
While we were in the computer lab we ran into our friend Shayne Robinson who is a member of the College Republicans. Originally from Oklahoma, he was actually the chairman of the CR club last semester before our good friend Adam Thiessen took over leadership. Shayne has been very busy this semester because he is trying to graduate and he is also engaged to his soon to be wife. We frequently run into Shayne and always say hi, but for some reason we were able to actually sit down with each other and have a personal conversation about our lives.
Shayne is an unbelievable guy who understands clearly the problems with the church and the problems within our American culture and society as a whole. He knows that we are fighting against a socially irresponsible and permissive culture, liberal indoctrination of our youth at college campuses, lukewarm Christians and others who just lack faith, calling and a purpose in their lives. Shayne talked about, "I never knew a day where I didn't understand what it meant for Jesus Christ to die on the cross for me." Shayne was trained up in the ways of the Lord like we should be. We are so thankful that he didn't have to go through all the hardships and pain that we did not knowing the Lord Jesus Christ as our personal savior.
There are so few of us, like Shayne, who are willing to submit their entire lives to Jesus Christ and live whole heartedly for Him and His Kingdom. When you find a brother like this, you hold on dearly to him.
We shared with Shayne our personal testimony of accepting Jesus Christ as our personal savior, how Jesus revealed to us the Truth about conservatism, how He opened a million doors to bring us to Branson and how He has ordained our calling to lead a Christian revival in America with Mike Pence emerging as our next conservative leader for President in 2008.
He felt inspired and soon wanted to learn more about Mike Pence and the movement. But most importantly he wanted to know what Jesus Christ is doing in our lives here in America. That is what America so desperately wants to see and know; what Jesus Christ is doing in America. People want to know how real He is. America needs a message of hope and inspiration.
Well, our mission here at The Draft Pence Movement is to tell, show and live the realness of Jesus Christ. Please stay updated and involved in His movement. Lives and hearts are going to be changed. Men will be inspired and will be lead and called to stand up for Jesus Christ and His glory.
Pray for Shayne as he is feeling called to go into the ministry and as he is about to begin his new family. Shayne Robinson is another young man who the Lord Jesus Christ brought into our lives to support The Draft Pence Movement and who will one day impact our nation for Christ.

| All-American Saturday |
| 04.09.05 (6:36 pm) [edit] |
|
Today was an All-American Saturday.
We woke up early this morning with the sun shining and the beautiful Ozark mountain breeze in the air. We had a birthday party to go to. We had been invited to attend our good friend Eric Farris’s birthday party for his youngest daughter. Isabella was turning four on this special day. We drove over to their house where the party was taking place. Some of our other friends from the Kanakuk Institute were also there such as David and Emily Rosenthal and Joel and Mandy Busby. We were there to help play and supervise all the children who were there playing in their backyard.
Eric and his wife Elizabeth Farris are a true American family. Elizabeth’s father Demitri was originally from communist Greece. He came over to America to start a new life in the land of the free. Demitri came to Branson, Missouri with his wife, two children, one hundred dollars and an abundance of hope, aspiration and determination. He worked in a restaurant as a cook and server. A man then asked Demitri if he wanted to be the head cook at his new restaurant. He said yes. Then Demitri asked the guy where his new restaurant was and the guy told him, “You have to help me build it.”
So Demitri helped the man build the restaurant, which is now the big theatre on the Branson strip that holds The Haygoods Show. Demitri then ventured out on his own and started his own upscale Greek restaurant where he served plates close to fifty dollars. His restaurant was located on Lake Taneycomo and was eventually bought by the city of Branson in order to start the development of the Branson Landing.
Now Demitri is retired and has bought several properties and developments in Branson. His daughter Elizabeth is a business extraordinaire and married Eric who is a conservative lawyer. We met the Farris family back in October or so. Our good friend David (Rosey) Rosenthal worked for the family along with his wife. The Farris family needed extra help with things around their home and at their new law office. So they employed my brother and me for ten dollars an hour. This is the highest paying job I have ever held.
The Farris family knows the value of hard work and employment. That’s why they help out others by offering them jobs. They also give generously to local thrift stores whenever they get rid of household items they no longer need. This is what true Christian conservative families do; they employ others in need and give their unwanted items to organizations that help out those who may be less fortunate. That is the American way, through employment and charity not through government.
We didn’t know how the Lord was going to provide for our living expenses and our tuition costs for the Kanakuk Institute, but the Lord kept bringing job opportunities into our lives. The Farris family doesn’t know it, but they are our biggest financial supporters for our year here at Kanakuk. They have been a major blessing to us.
The birthday party was amazing. Catered by Golden Corral, the food was amazing, the cake was amazing and the family atmosphere was amazing. We even did the hokey pokey. All the other families at the party were strong Christian families from the community. The Farris family always goes all out during special occasions, especially for their dear children. They make all occasions special and memorable.
Eric and Elizabeth are well respected community members who are strong conservatives. They are dear friends and true Americans who value family, free market, and Christian values in our community.
After leaving the Farris birthday party we went over to our dear friend Wes Stoner’s house. Wes is a youth pastor at United Methodist church where my brother is an intern at. Wes was in his front yard along with his children washing his van. This is another favorite American family event for a sunny Saturday afternoon. Wes was scrubbing down the car as his children were squirting each other with the water hose. Wes has two children, Blake and Brooklyn. On top of his two children, Wes also has an exchange student from South Korea named Jeremy living with him.
Wes is a great guy, who is showing Jeremy, 16, what it means to be an American. And there is no better place to learn about America and what it means to be an American then in Branson, Missouri, the heart of America. Branson is the Christian cultural hub of the world. Jesus Christ, Christianity, family values, business ownership, patriotism, and hospitality all flourish here in Branson. Jeremy, through American experiences such as washing the car as a family on a Saturday afternoon, is quickly growing to know and love America for what it truly stands for.
After leaving our friend Wes’s home, we decided to stop by our other friend John Tillack’s home to hang out with him and his family. On our way there, we see John’s SUV turn into the bowling alley in front of us. We turn into the bowling alley right behind him. We ask him what they’re up to, and he said that it was his son Tanner’s birthday. It was the sovereignty of the Lord Jesus Christ that allowed us to run into John’s family right when we did. Wow, we now had another birthday party to attend.
We hung out in the bowling alley. Travis bowled with the children while I spoke with John’s father who was in town from Denver, Colorado. I was telling him my brother and my story of our salvation and how the Lord called us to come to Branson, Missouri. I then began telling him about The Draft Pence Movement. Everything was going great until we began talking about No Child Left Behind and the role of the federal government in the educational systems of America. I am for retiring the federal government’s role in public education, localizing our school systems, giving the control and power back to the parents and the local communities. John’s father didn’t agree with me that the federal government has clearly taken over the American school systems and that NCLB nearly tripled the size and scope of the federal government control over our public school systems. So I left it alone and moved onto another subject. John’s father is a very wise man who resonates strongly with Christian conservative values. While there are many conservative Americans who do not see that the federal government is taking over the public school systems, we must stay strong on this pertinent issue that continues to plague our nation’s pursuing generations.
After the bowling alley, we went back to the Tillack’s house to play with the children and eat birthday cake. John is a great father who has been very inspirational to my brother and me. He always spends time with his children and constantly teaches them about Jesus Christ and what it means to be an American through words, encouragement and example. It was great. It was an All-American birthday party. White house, front porch, big front yard, American flag waving, children throwing the baseball around, grandparents swinging on the porch, mothers talking to each other while keeping one eye on their children, and chocolate cake and vanilla ice cream. It was amazing.
These are the everyday experiences of American families here in the heartland. These are the everyday American folks who are strongly supporting American values and Mike Pence for President.

| Mike Pence Statement on Terri Schiavo |
| 04.09.05 (5:22 pm) [edit] |
The Truth about Terri's Law
Clutching a cherished teddy bear to her side, a severely brain damaged woman died of starvation in Florida last week by court order and, as the whole world knows, that woman was Terri Schiavo.
After reading through a mountain range of letters and emails regarding the recent issues emanating from this heart wrenching case, I was struck by two qualities of the correspondence: passion and misunderstanding.
As a Member of Congress who strongly supported the Incapacitated Persons Act and the compromise legislation dealing only with Mrs. Schiavo’s case, I thought it would be in order to address both the passion and misunderstanding that have enveloped this debate.
The passion which this case has engendered speaks well of the heart of this great nation. People in America care about the weak and vulnerable. People in America care about the sanctity of life and the sanctity of marriage. And people care about the necessary limits on the power of the federal government ordained in the Constitution. It was inspiring to read the principled passion that this case inspired on both sides of the issue.
But as pronounced as the passion of public reaction was, so too was the misunderstanding it generated. I believe many in the public misunderstood both the condition of Terri Schiavo and what the constitution provides in due process protection for every person in the United States.
Societies are judged by how they deal with their most vulnerable citizens.
To understand why Congress chose to act, it is of first importance that we understand the precise circumstance of Mrs. Schiavo’s condition.
Many advocates of the Florida court’s decision referred to her as having been in a “coma” and on “life support.” This misunderstanding can be forgiven since so many in the major media repeated these facts despite the inaccurate nature of these terms as descriptions of Mrs. Schiavo’s physical condition.
Terri Schiavo was not in a coma. Every day for 15 years, according to her parents, she was conscious and responsive. The degree to which she understood their affections we may never know but she was not in the unconscious state that we most associate with the term “coma.”
Terri Schiavo was not on life support. She merely had a tube in her stomach to assist her in obtaining food and water. Most Americans understand the difference between being on a mechanical devise that keeps one’s organs working and being provided basic food and water.
I believe that many Americans simply do not understand that this severely brain damaged person was both conscious and responsive and not on life support. Understood in the light of these facts, one may better understand why millions of Americans, the President and bipartisan majorities in the House and Senate chose to act. A disabled woman, who only required food and water to remain alive, was being starved to death.
No American citizen may be deprived of his or her constitutional right to life without due process of law.
In this case, every member of Terri’s immediate family believed that the Florida courts had not afforded their daughter her due process rights and earnestly sought the opportunity to appeal her case to the federal courts.
Many opponents of Congressional action argued that the national government should stay out of a matter that falls within the jurisdiction of the state courts. This is an expression of a commitment to limited government at the federal level as described in the 10th Amendment to the Constitution. It is a principle of government that should be respected but it is not without its exceptions.
We are all grateful that during the height of the Civil Rights Movement in the 1960’s that President Kennedy and the Congress did not believe that laws pertaining to minorities were exclusively a matter of state law. Then, as now, the President and Congress understood that their oath to support and uphold the Constitution applied to defending those rights for every American.
It was in this spirit that Congress enacted legislation. The issue before the Congress was “does the federal government have a role in ensuring the constitutional rights of every American, even those who live at the mercy of others, are respected and defended?”
Seen in this light, many of my constituents have expressed much greater sympathy with the desire of federal officials of both parties in Congress to take action.
But the action Congress took is also deeply misunderstood.
In almost every letter I received criticizing Congressional action, Hoosiers wrote that Congress was wrong to “intervene in this case” and that Congress was wrong to pass a bill to “have Terri Schiavo’s feeding tube reinserted.” One major newspaper in Indiana recently published a poll that used this exact language in gauging public support for Congressional action.
The only problem with this is that this is not what Congress passed or the President signed. Regardless of what you may have heard or read, Congress did not vote to overturn the Florida courts or otherwise “intervene in the case.” Congress acted, rightly, to give our federal courts the opportunity to review the case and while I disagree with the court’s final decision, under our system of government, I accept it without hesitation.
All Congress did for the family of Terri Schiavo was open the doors of the federal courts to hear an appeal of her case, to determine whether or not her constitutional right to due process of law was being protected. That’s it.
Congress merely sought to ensure that Terri Schiavo and her family would have the same right to appeal to the federal courts that Scott Peterson and Charles Manson had. Under the constitutional right known as habeas corpus, every inmate on death row in America has the right to appeal their state court conviction to the Supreme Court of the United States.
Our founders added this specific right to the Constitution because they understood that every American’s right to life must never be taken from them without ensuring their constitutional right to due process of law is protected.
Terri Schiavo’s Legacy
The passion and misunderstanding of this case will subside and most of us will go on with our daily lives but before we do, let’s patch the hole in our system of justice that became apparent in the final days of Terri Schiavo’s life.
Congress must now act on the unhappy lessons of this case and ensure that every disabled and incapacitated American will have access to our federal courts should their lives be placed in jeopardy by order of any court. By enacting the Incapacitated Persons Act, the same bill that Congress first adopted in response to the tragic events in Pinellas, Florida, we will make certain that those in our society who suffer from physical or mental disability will have their right to life defended in the highest court in the land.
There can be no greater tribute to the memory of this fragile woman and her dedicated family. As the number of American seniors doubles in the coming years, and the likelihood of more tragic circumstances facing more families increases, the law must be changed to better address the needs of every American in such circumstance. The legacy of Terri Schiavo must be greater protections for disabled Americans.
Rep. Mike Pence 6th Congressional District of Indiana

| Pray for Nick Steward |
| 04.08.05 (4:12 pm) [edit] |
|
Yesterday we met Randy Baar early in the morning to discuss the filming and shooting of our personal story and message. Randy told us that it has been the Lord Jesus Christ who brought him into the business. He said he didn’t know anything about television or anything related to it but the Lord called him into that field. He started the Spirit of America Hour show. You can check it out at www.spiritofamericahour.org It hasn’t been updated in a long while. But he said that he has been living month to month and feels like he has been wondering around in the wilderness.
But he strongly feels like things are quickly going to erupt. He wants us to be on board with his show and his long term vision. He feels that maybe the Lord Jesus Christ wants my brother Travis and I to have our own weekly show for youth. Telling the truth about how America has lied to us and how liberalism has destroyed our culture and American traditions. He says the show already has the possibility of reaching 2 million viewers in the state of Missouri alone. And that he has an interested Christian who wants to partner in the show and take it nationwide. So please be in prayer about this opportunity. Please pray that we stay humble and that we can speak the truth with love and grace.
Last night we had our first nightly prayer meeting. We started a prayer group for the community of Branson to pray for a Christian revival in America and for Mike Pence for president. It was a good turnout. We had seven people total including Travis and I.
Chris Myer of Myer Hotels was there. He is a strong conservative activist in Branson who was instrumental in stopping gambling from coming into the Branson area. Jerry Lilley of Lilley’s Landing, a local resort, was there. He is a longtime resident of Branson and a committed member of First Baptist Branson. Bill Keyes, owner of Cloud Nine Resort, was also in attendance. Chuck Silva, pastor of Horizon Church in Branson, was also in attendance. He recently completed his dissertation for his Ph.D. from Dallas Theological Seminary. We have been under his leadership and discipleship for the past few months. Please pray for his completion of his Ph.D. Also Linda Stillings was in attendance. She is strong Christian conservative who is very discerning on who is R.I.N.O. (Republican in Name Only) and who is the real deal.
We had a prayer session for close to two hours. I remember when Linda was praying she kept saying, “This Draft Mike Pence movement is all of You, Lord. It’s so of you.” We believe so too. That’s why we must stay in prayer for this movement and for this man of principle.
Also, today I just found out unfortunate news of our good friend Nick Steward from Lynchburg, Virginia. Steward, 22, is a young Black conservative who had his own radio show (Right Night radio) in Lynchburg and was the chairman of the Central Virginia Young Republicans. We met him out in Washington, D.C. when we went to CPAC (Conservative Political Action Conference) in February. He interviewed several big time conservative stars such as Herman Cain from Georgia and Ken Blackwell from Ohio. I just found out that last month he was arrested for identity theft and is now facing criminal charges. On top of this, he was forced from his position as chairman and lost his radio show. He no longer has a website, an email address, a cell phone number or anything. We cannot get in contact with him.
This is very unfortunate for Nick and our movement. Nick Steward was a very strong supporter of Mike Pence and The Draft Pence Movement. We do not have the full details of what exactly happened but Nick is a strong Christian who may have fell victim to sin that is so enticing in our present world. Some of the members of the CVYR had doubts about Nick and want to see him sentenced and his political career end. But, we at The Draft Pence Movement want to pray for Nick and see him be restored to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ through repentance. The Lord has a purpose and plan for Nick and wants to use this experience to lead him to repentance and restoration in order to use him for His glory.
I know about repentance. I also had to learn it the hard way. I was living a life of sin before I was saved by Jesus Christ my senior year in high school. I was a big time thief who stole clothes, money, and everything else I could. I was saved on a Sunday but I didn’t know anything about repentance. The very next time I worked which was that next Friday, I was caught stealing and arrested. I faced charges for a Class D felony facing 2-3 years prison time. Instead of going to college I was now going to prison. But the Lord worked it out after I repented and gave away everything I had that was stolen.
Afterward, all my teachers and counselors came against me because I was arrested. I was a straight A student, who had completed 11 hours of college credit and accepted to Indiana University, and my counselor said she was going to withdraw my letter of recommendation and do everything in her power to make sure that I don’t go to college. I know firsthand the discipline and rebuking of Jesus Christ and the forsaking of people around me. Nick Steward needs our prayers and support. I am in the process of trying to find his contact information. But for now, please pray for Nick and his future. He may be getting shipped off again in the army. But pray for him, his wife and his newborn child. He has a promising future and always has a spot here in The Draft Pence Movement.
We believe in Nick, but most importantly we believe in the restoring power of our Lord Jesus Christ.
God Bless

| His Story Will Be Heard |
| 04.07.05 (5:58 am) [edit] |
|
My mother was in town yesterday and last night we went to Dixie Stampede. It was local appreciation night so we got really cheap tickets. It was a good show where at the end they sang about America and true patriotism. It was wonderful.
After hugging my mother goodbye, as she was leaving the next morning, we began to leave the parking lot. I was talking to Travis about an email I wrote to a friend of ours and immediately in my mind came the fact that Greg Thompson is in town for Branson Fire Revival conference being put on by our good friend Cecil Todd. Therefore, we turned around immediately and drove to the hotel where the conference was being held.
Greg Thompson is our dear friend who was a superintendent of the public school district in Humansville. He was fired for refusing to take down the Ten Commandments, his Bible and a Cross from his office walls. After he was fired the Lord Jesus Christ then ripped the scales off of his eyes, and allowed him to see what was really going on in America. He now understood how America is being secularized and socialized to take away any recognition of Jesus Christ and God in our public sphere.
Brother Thompson then began his own ministry called “Asleep Know More” where he goes around to local churches and conferences preaching against the secularization of our nation, calling for Christians to take their children out of the public school systems. His conference was where we heard Bob Burton of Silver Dollar City speak about how Branson had been praying for two and a half years for a Christian revival in America and how it was going to start in Branson.
Well we got to the parking lot of the hotel. Being packed we just parked in front of the entrance, because Travis knew something big was about to happen and we need to get in there immediately. We then remembered that Michael Reagan was speaking that night and thought maybe we would get the chance to meet him. We found out that he was downstairs still signing autographs.
So we met Brother Thompson downstairs. He told us that he had already spoke to Reagan privately and that he was good friends with him. We told him we needed to talk to him about being the National Chairman of the Draft Pence Movement. So Brother Thompson said, “Ok, let me go talk to him.”
While in line, I introduced myself to another gentlemen. He did not know who we were or what we were doing but he told us he wanted us on his television show. He was the personal assistant to Jim Bakker who does a daily show on tv. So he gave us his business card and told us to get a hold of him.
We then stepped up and introduced ourselves to Michael Reagan. He immediately looked at us and said, “Hey, you guys are twins, are you wanting to marry twin girls?” I was not even thinking about marriage or about his daughter, in fact, I almost forgot he had a daughter. So we kind of put our heads down and looked away in humility. He then said, “Yes, that means you guys are interested in marrying twin girls. But I have a daughter.” Then he asked how old we were. We told him 23. He then told us that his daughter is going to be 22 on April 12th. It was as if he was interested in one of us marrying his daughter.
We were expecting to talk to Reagan about the Draft Pence movement but the Lord had other plans, like He usually does. I do not know if we will ever meet his daughter or talk to her, but the Lord Jesus Christ is telling us, do not worry about your future, what you will eat, what you will drink or what you will wear (or who you will marry), seek my kingdom first and all other things will be added upon you as well (Matt. 6:32-33). He is letting us know that He has a special purpose and plan for us and that if we stay obedient and faithful to Him, He will bless us abundantly.
We said goodbye to Reagan and went over to greet our friend Cecil Todd who put on the conference. He is a great man of God who he feels the Lord has called him to spread the message of being rapture ready. After we greeted our friend Mr. Todd, another gentleman was standing there in awe, and looked at us and asked, “Who are you guys, what are you doing?” We started telling him a little bit about ourselves and what we have a passion for. He then told us that he does his own television program and he is looking for young people with a message to get on his show. He knew immediately that the Lord Jesus Christ wanted him to get our story and our vision out to America so he told us that he is filming us the next show. He told us that he is going to change the schedule and find room for us to get on the show. Wow, we were in shock, but at the same time we also were not because this is something that we have been praying about, that we could get our story out there to America and that somebody would take interest in us and film our story.
Come to find out Randy Baar, who is the gentleman wanting to film our story, is best friends with Greg Thompson. Brother Thompson was actually staying with him in Branson. He then said, “You guys have a story that needs to get out to America. On top of the segment, we are going to film a 15 minute or so clip to put on dvd that you guys can go around the nation handing out to people and selling for a profit. Because lets face it, you need to put food on the table.” I was so excited because I know that the Lord Jesus Christ is putting all these things together for His glory and honor. He wants His story out there.

| Pence Welcomes Freedom Fighter |
| 04.06.05 (2:41 pm) [edit] |
PENCE WELCOMES UKRAINIAN PRESIDENT TO CAPITOL HILL “President Yushchenko is the man who would not die”
Washington, Apr 6 - U.S. Congressman Mike Pence, a member of the House International Relations Committee, welcomed Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko to Capitol Hill today:
"Mr. Speaker, as a member of the House Committee on International Relations, I rise to express a word of humble welcome to one of ‘freedom's men’ in the former Soviet Union as President Viktor Yushchenko of Ukraine addresses a joint session of Congress today.
“Like the democracy's Orange Revolution that he personifies, President Yushchenko is the man who would not die. He survived the toxic machinations of those who see freedom as a threat and those wicked men were right.
“Freedom in Ukraine and their brave President are a threat to every form of tyranny against the mind of men and women in that ancient land. It is altogether fitting that the capitol of democracy on planet earth welcome one of its first 21st Century heroes to these hallowed halls."

| Billy Bob Dairyland |
| 04.06.05 (2:21 pm) [edit] |
|
My mother is in town and she was able to attend today's chapel service. The sermon was on victory through surrendering to Christ. I pray that the Holy Spirit convicts my mother of her sins and that she is in need of a personal savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.
Afterwards, we went to eat lunch at Billy Bob Dairyland. It is a family owned, Christian oriented establishment that is an old-fashioned hamburger restaurant. It is located on the strip and is a local favorite. It was actually the first time I ate there, but many people in Branson eat there frequently. It is just like many of the other places in Branson, very patriotic. It had a big American flag sticker on its front door and other American sentiment throughout the restaurant. A man named Don, along with his wife, is the owner of the restaurant. It was the first time my brother and I met him, but we asked him to pray with us before we ate. He could sense our love for Jesus Christ, America and family. It is people like Don and his family owned establishment that will lead Americans from all over the nation to see and understand what America is all about.
We talked to Don before we left and he told us about his loyal customers. He told us that his business has tripled in the last few years. We told him that if you put God and family first, your business will prosper. Don is definitely a business man with a true understanding of American capitalism. He understands, like many other Americans, that capitalism is a moral system that provides jobs for others, allows one to provide for their family, allows additional earnings to help out the community, allows owners to re-invest in the business and allows the promotion of Christian family values.
The Lord Jesus Christ really has his hand over Branson, Missouri and allows it to prosper because it puts God, family and country first. In fact, Branson is the fasting growing community in the nation. Pray for Branson, for the local business owners, and the local community members that will be the light to the millions of visitors that will visit Branson who don't know the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal savior. Millions, like my mother, will be drawn to Branson for unknown reasons and prayerfully will leave knowing that the Lord Jesus Christ is real and knowing what America truly stands for.

| My Mother is in Branson |
| 04.05.05 (11:01 am) [edit] |
|
My mother is actually here in Branson. She is on vacation with her three friends and they stopped in Branson on their way home for a few days. Please pray for my mother, that she comes to know the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal savior. Pray that Branson shows her what America is really about: Christianity, family, business ownership, community and patriotism. My brother and I will be spending the next two days with her and prayerfully she will be attending class with us tomorrow. We are learning how to share our faith effectively, so pray that the Holy Spirit will penetrate her heart and allow her to know that she is a sinner in need of a savior and that one cannot make it to heaven on good works.
God Bless

| What They're Saying About Mike Pence |
| 04.04.05 (9:21 pm) [edit] |
|
"Mike is charismatic. He's articulate, but he's not shrill or mean the way some conservatives can be." "I think a lot of us are looking around and saying, 'Who is the next great conservative hero? Where is the next Ronald Reagan in our party?"
& nbsp; &n bsp; &nb sp; &nbs p;Stephen Moore, former president of the Club for Growth
"Many in the conservative movement say the youthful-looking, silver-haired evangelical Christian from Columbus, Ind., is the right politician to carry their message."
& nbsp; &n bsp; &nb sp; Christopher Lee, Washington Post Staff Writer
"The Republican Study Committee is a bulwark of Reagan conservatism in the House. And Mike Pence is one of the most distinguished conservative leaders in Congress. Clearly, the American Conservative Union chose well when it selected Congressman Pence to deliver the keynote address at this year's Conservative Political Action Conference. Mr. Pence's speech was eloquent and stirring, a principled declaration on the current state of the conservative movement in an era of Republican hegemony in Congress. ACU has every confidence that under Mike Pence's leadership, the Republican Study Committee will continue to serve as the philosophical rudder to keep the Republican majority sailing a straight and true conservative course."
& nbsp; &n bsp; David A. Keene, ACU Chairman
"Rep. Mike Pence (R-IN) is no finger-in-the-wind politician. Pence operates from a firm set of conservative principles; he does not do that which is simply expedient and momentarily advantageous politically. He is a thoughtful conservative who addresses issues from principle; no conservative can accuse him of having his priorities wrong. He does not talk the loudest or make the biggest promises but his straight-from-the-shoulde r common-sense thinking can carry the day based on its logic and sincerity. People like him and trust him. They realize that Pence is not just handing them a line but truly means what he says. Pence is exactly the right conservative to lead the fights that must be fought. He should be able to provide the requisite mix of common sense and commitment to principle with the willingness to take bold stands and not back down." & nbsp; &n bsp; &nb sp; &nbs p;   ; & nbsp; &n bsp; &nb sp; &nbs p;   ; & nbsp; &n bsp; &nb sp; &nbs p;   ; & nbsp; &n bsp; &nb sp; &nbs p;   ; & nbsp; &n bsp; &nb sp; &nbs p; & nbsp; &n bsp; &nb sp; &nbs p;   ; & nbsp; &n bsp; &nb sp;
& nbsp; &n bsp; &nb sp; Paul Weyrich, Chairman of Free Congress Foundation &nb sp; &nbs p;   ;
"The new chairman's plans are bold. He will lead his cadre of conservative members by reverting to a strategy adopted by Republican House members when they were wandering in what seemed to be a perpetual minority wilderness….Congratulations to Rep. Pence on his election [RSC chair] and hooray to him and his colleagues for the guts to begin the revival of Congressional conservatism in the wake of the GOP legislative meltdown over the past four years." & nbsp; &n bsp; &nb sp; &nbs p;   ; & nbsp; &n bsp; &nb sp; &nbs p;
& nbsp; &n bsp; Donald Devine, ACU &nbs p;   ; & nbsp; &n bsp; &nb sp; &nbs p;   ; & nbsp; &n bsp; &nb sp; &nbs p;   ;
"Mike is a true believer in the conservative cause. I know that he will carry on the torch and will keep the RSC on the conservative path." & nbsp; &n bsp; &nb sp; &nbs p;   ;
& nbsp; &n bsp; Sue Myrick, R-N.C. & nbsp; &n bsp; &nb sp; &nbs p;
"He works the media better than anyone else in the Hoosier congressional delegation. The former radio talk show host knows how to generate press not only in the district but also nationally. He's conservative but not scary; he wears his Christian beliefs on his sleeve but doesn't beat people over the head with them, locking up his district and earning grudging respect even from political opponents."

"Whenever people ask me at home what my agenda is, it's vote right and go home for dinner." "I don't come at this job with a long laundry list of things that Mike Pence came to Congress to do, but rather I come at this job trying to form a record and a reputation as a thoughtful conservative that makes a conscientious effort to vote his conservative values, even if that means opposing members of my own party."
"My votes against the education bill and my votes against the Medicare bill got huge play at home. I guarantee you, for me it was a mandate for conservative leadership." "To me, I look at it and I say, 'I'm out, I'm all the way — I'm pro-life, I don't apologize for it.' My district knows what I stand for, and God bless them, and I give God the glory, 67 percent of my district said 'Keep doing it.' So look out."

Confident Hope
Now, the President and Congress must deliver on the confident hope of millions of American voters by restoring the luster to our reputation as the party of limited government. On this front, there is work to be done.
Earlier this year, in light of two consecutive sessions of Congress that saw a 52% increase in the Department of Education, the first new entitlement in 40 years and record increases in non-defense spending, I likened the conservative movement to a tall ship plying the open seas of a simpler time with a proud captain and a strong and accomplished crew, but veering off course into the dangerous and uncharted waters of big-government Republicanism.
Despite the enormous conservative achievements of the past four years, I saw troubling signs that the ship of conservative governance was off course.
While Ronald Reagan said famously, "Government is not the solution to our problem, government is the problem," many Republicans--even many who call themselves conservatives--had begun to see government as the solution to every social ill. This was a historic departure from the limited-government tradition of our party.
So how do we find our way forward in the uncertain currents of the new governing majority? How do we launch this new Congress with priorities that reflect our party's commitment to limited government?
Conservatives must dead reckon from the starting point of what we know to be true about the nature of government. We know that government that governs least governs best. We know as government expands, freedom contracts. We know that government should never do for a man what he can and should do for himself. And we know that liberty also means freedom from the unbridled growth of government and its attendant burdens of debt, escalating taxes and suffocating bureaucracy.
As we navigate off of these fixed truths, the way forward is clear: After four years of the largest growth in entitlement and discretionary spending in more than a half-century, we must rediscover the principles of limited government that brought our party to power in 1980 and 1994 and put them into practice. This requires that House conservatives have their own agenda, built on the principles of freedom, including not only what conservatives must do in the 109th Congress, but also what they must undo.
What Conservatives Must Do
First, House conservatives must rally support in Congress and the country for President Bush's agenda where it conforms to the ideals of limited government. The good news is that all of the "Big Three" items that the President outlined last week are worthy of vigorous conservative support. These include:
· Modernizing Social Security by introducing the option of personal savings accounts for younger Americans. Members of the Republican Study Committee, including Representatives Paul Ryan (R.-Wis.), Sam Johnson (R.-Tex.) and Jeff Flake (R.-Ariz.) are already working on legislation to make this a reality.
· Overhauling the Internal Revenue Code without a tax increase to achieve a system that is simpler and fairer for taxpaying Americans. Representatives John Linder (R.-Ga.) and Mike Burgess (R.-Tex.) are leading in this area.
· Reforming the legal system to end the hidden tax that frivolous lawsuits place on our manufacturing and health care economies. Rep. John Shaddegg (R.-Ariz.) is sponsoring legislation to do just that.
These are President Bush's priorities and they deserve to be the priorities of conservatives in Washington. In addition to these "Big Three" goals, House conservatives should also put on green eyeshades and put our fiscal house in order. We can do this by:
· Additional tax cuts (as the Republican Congress has done every year since 1994) to ensure continued economic growth.
· The Balanced Budget Amendment to the Constitution, sponsored by Rep. Ernest Istook (R.-Okla.).
· Fundamental budget-process reform including a line item veto, like the proposal put forward by Representatives Jeb Hensarling (R.-Tex.) and Paul Ryan.
· Upholding any presidential veto on a spending bill that exceeds the budget, an action item that Rep. Chris Cox (R.-Calif.) has been lining up members to support.
· Cutting wasteful government spending and actually eliminating outdated government programs, an area in which Representatives Kevin Brady (R.-Tex.), Todd Tiahrt (R.-Okla.) and Tom Feeney (R.-Fla.) are leading.
· Freedom to purchase affordable health insurance across state lines and the freedom to purchase insurance in groups, which are initiatives proposed by Rep. John Shaddegg.
House conservatives know the freedom agenda demands not only actuarial perfection, but also gains in moral freedom. Congress must take action to defend the American people from activist federal judges who would impose their own view of morality and patriotism on our communities, families and most cherished institutions. We must:
· Defend qualified nominees to the Supreme Court from extremist, anti-life attacks.
· Pass the Federal Marriage Amendment, sponsored by Rep. Marilyn Musgrave (R.-Colo.) by a growing majority.
· Highlight the humanity of the unborn and the violence of abortion, by passing legislation strengthening parental rights and recognizing the pain and suffering abortion causes women. Representatives Dave Weldon (R.-Fla.), Joe Pitts (R.-Pa.), Todd Akin (R.-Mo.) and Chris Smith (R.-N.J.) are leading on this crucial issue.
· Pass the Freedom of Speech in Houses of Worship Act sponsored by Rep. Walter Jones (R.-N.C.).
· Limit the jurisdiction of the federal courts--as Congress is constitutionally authorized to do--over the most cherished symbols of our culture and over the free expression of our faith in the public square. Representatives Robert Aderholt (R.-Ala.) and Akin are pursuing legislation in this arena.
· Clarify that no foreign court or institution can create precedents or principles that may be applied to judicial decisions regarding U.S. laws. Rep. Tom Feeney (R.-Fla.) is working to defend our sovereignty against this new threat.
What Conservatives Must Undo
There is legislation already on the books that conservatives must undo to advance the freedom agenda:
· Restore the 1st Amendment by repealing much of the Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act. Like most House Republicans, I fought against BCRA and had the honor of being the only House plaintiff in the legal challenge that Sen. Mitch McConnell (R.-Ky.) took to the Supreme Court. BCRA violated the 1st Amendment directive that "Congress shall make no law abridging the freedom of speech" and the 527 circus of this past summer may create an opportunity to reform our campaign finance laws in a manner that empowers the role of political parties and restores the freedom of speech curtailed by BCRA and the Supreme Court decision in McConnell, Pence et al.
· Undo the entitlement elements of the Medicare prescription drug law. In this law, a Republican Congress created an un-funded Medicare liability equal to the entire Social Security obligation plus one half again. This threatens to bankrupt our nation in the next century and drive millions of retirees into Medicare for prescription drug coverage. Congress should leave a modest drug benefit for the one in four seniors who currently lack coverage--which is what the President asked for in the first place--and should impose the means test on the benefit that inspired Sen. Ted Kennedy (D.-Mass.) to threaten to filibuster the law last year.
· Reform the No Child Left Behind Act to reverse the expanding federal role in primary and secondary education, which is a state and local function. Congress should adopt for education the block grant strategy used in welfare reform, promoting school choice and innovation through resources not red tape.
This is a conservative agenda for the 109th Congress. Its theme is freedom. In the wake of the historic landslide of November 2, American conservatives must steer government back to the limited-government course charted by Ronald Reagan when he took the helm of state in 1981. We must rediscover the freedom agenda of less government and greater fiscal discipline. We must be strong and courageous and do the work knowing that this cause will prevail. For the cause of freedom is not our story but His--the author and finisher of our faith and our freedom.
Congressman Pence, who represents the 6th District of Indiana, is the House Deputy Majority Whip.

| Mike Pence: A Christian Conservative Statesman |
| 04.04.05 (4:34 pm) [edit] |
|
Indiana Congressman Mike Pence is truly the last Reagan Republican as he describes himself as “A Christian, a conservative, and a Republican, in that order.” Mike Pence is a thoughtful, well-spoken, sincere conservative who shares our Christian biblical message with grace and love. He is a humble man who does not seek power or position, but rather only to serve Jesus Christ and the American people. He is a true statesman who stands on principle alone and does not waver under political or party pressure. His strength comes from his faith in Jesus Christ, American values and the prosperity that stems from these principles. He is the mature and uniting leader that is needed to lead our great nation of America back to its founding principles of faith, family and freedom.
Statesman Mike Pence originally ran for congress back in 1988 and again in 1990. Both times he was defeated because of his unwise political tactics. After his second defeat, the Lord Jesus Christ truly humbled him and told him that his negative campaign tactics were wrong and immoral. It was then that Mike Pence truly surrendered his entire life to the Lord Jesus Christ. From there he became a president of a conservative think tank and later went on to have his own radio talk show in Indianapolis. It was during this time that Mike Pence’s speech and rhetoric became polished in order to gracefully address all Americans, regardless of their viewpoint. After eight years in radio talk show, the Lord opened up a door and called Mike Pence to run for Congress again. This time the outcome was different. Mike Pence won in a landslide becoming the congressman for the sixth district of Indiana.
Mike Pence was immediately lifted up into leadership position. He became only the fifth freshman congressman in the last fifty years to chair a subcommittee (Small business). After his first term he then was lifted up again into the deputy majority whip position, one of only fifteen in the House. During his service as deputy majority whip, he led the revolt against the Medicare bill in 2002, which was the largest drug entitlement bill to ever pass through the halls of congress. As Pence stood on principle, he led twenty four other congressman to stand down the bill alongside of him. After the bill passed, several house Republicans went to Mike Pence and asked for his forgiveness. They repented and were now willing to follow Mike Pence as his character and ability to stand on principle was becoming more widely respected.
After repentance, the six founding members of the Republican Study Committee, the largest and most conservative caucus in the House, went to Mike Pence and asked him to be the chair of the RSC during the 109th congress. But because Mike Pence is so humble, he was unwilling to accept the position without having an election among the one hundred congressmen the caucus represented. Because Mike Pence had earned the respect of his fellow conservative House members due to his humility and ability to stand for the conservative cause, Pence was chosen UNANIMOUSLY as the chair. While also holding the deputy majority whip position, Pence went directly to the establishment GOP and willingly stepped down from that position while quoting scripture, “I cannot serve two masters.” Pence is the first person in fifty years to willingly step down from leadership position. This selfless move is one that is unheard of in today’s state of politics.
In addition to being an ardent fiscal conservative, Mike Pence is also a national right-to-life hero. Pence started a petition and gathered 127 congressional signatures to have a conservative right-to-life speaker during primetime at the Republican National Convention in 2004. Even though Pence is so well respected, well loved and well received, his effort was unsuccessful. Yet Pence remained determined, focused and unwavering in his pursuit to fight for conservative values behind the scene.
Mike Pence’s voting record is also impressive and astounding. Pence received 100% from the American Conservative Union. In fact he is the ACU’s number one statesman as he has never voted in opposition to the ACU. He also received perfect 100% voting scores from Christian Coalition, Family Research Council, Federation for American Immigration Reform, National Federation of Independent Business, Eagle Forum, League of Private Property Voters and National Tax Limitation Committee. He is a strong pro-life, pro-family, pro-military, pro-gun, pro-limited government, pro-illegal immigration reform statesman who puts his faith into practice by not only voting right every time, but by being willing to stand up in the face of opposition.
During our nation’s time of war against terrorism, Mike Pence serves as an important member of the foreign relations committee. He has maintained great solid relationships with foreign leaders across the globe, including the president of Afghanistan, and would be a perfect leader for our nation in a period of global terror. Pence is also chairman of the newly created Civil Justice subcommittee and serves on the House Judiciary committee and House Agricultural committee.
Mike Pence is also media savvy. He became the first congressman to ever get media crews (Fox News and ABC) to go to Afghanistan to get first hand coverage of the new Islamic Republic. He also became the first congressman to launch his own web blog not to mention he continues to guest host radio talk shows from his congressional office . Because of his position as the chair of the RSC, Pence is now in the spotlight as he has become the spokesman of the conservative movement in the House.
Pence is currently leading the conservative caucus, RSC, in the fight for social security and illegal immigration reform. He remains determined to lead the House back to fiscal discipline and to lead our House back to honoring social conservative values such as life, marriage and ownership.
Mike Pence is the perfect candidate to unite the entire Reagan Right. He is not only the most ardent fiscal conservative but he is a right-to-life hero who can provide principled leadership necessary to right our American ship back on its proper course. It is not going to be Washington, D.C. or the Republican Party who elects our next president but it is going to be the American people and Jesus Christ who will lift up our next leader. America is ready for a conservative revival and Mike Pence is ready to lead the charge.

| The Draft Pence Movement |
| 04.03.05 (7:58 pm) [edit] |
|
The Draft Pence Movement is a national grassroots effort to revive our great nation of America back to the glorious values and principles that made our country heroic. It is dedicated to renewing the minds, hearts, and spirits of the American people in order to bring righteousness and common sense back to the forefront of our culture. It is a movement that is dedicated to strengthening the families, the churches, and the communities by promoting the values of personal responsibility, ownership and freedom. We have taken it upon ourselves to stand for America and to fight for her cherished values that exalted our nation. We need to rally behind a leader who can unite the entire Reagan wing, both the fiscal and the social side of conservatives. We believe that Indiana Congressman Mike Pence is the chosen American by the Lord Jesus Christ to lead this movement, to spread our conservative ideas and to inspire a great people to stand united for America.
There are three major facets of our movement.
The first and most important facet of this movement is awakening the Christian churches. We must call Christians to live out a biblical faith by being responsible, concerned and committed citizens standing together to fight for conservative values to be permeated throughout our nation in our culture and in the public sphere. Christians have dropped the ball and have allowed our culture and our public spheres to be secularized, relinquishing the power to the liberal socialists and their anti-Christian, anti-American agenda. The Churches and Christians within them must become aware that God has called us to be the salt and light of the world and to allow righteousness to exalt our nation. America cannot be exalted and Americans cannot come to know the Lord Jesus Christ if we allow socialism and secularism to destroy our communities. Christian churches must become more conservative and more active.
The second facet and one that is most dear to my heart is the conservative movement in Black communities. Our movement must be dedicated to teaching and spreading the truth about Black history in America, about Black culture in America, about the history of the Republican Party and how it has always been on the side of individual freedom and liberty. Conservatism is on the rise among Black Americans and we must continue to fuel that fire by networking and organizing Black conservatives while at the same time promoting conservatism to Black Americans.
And the last but very important and strategic facet of this movement will be the conservative movement among America’s youth. America’s youth will be the next generation of leaders for our nation and we must insure that they are led to the truth and knowledge of conservative values and principles that have been void in our public school systems and especially on college campuses. We believe the youth of our nation will rise to this challenge and occasion to lead our nation back to the stature and glory that we have taken for granted.
This movement will take place in three distinct locations in America: The churches, college campuses and the internet.
Please join us as we fight together to spread the message of Jesus Christ, America, and Christian Conservatism.

This blog was formerly known as Aaron’s Message. Aaron’s Message was full of personal testimonies of experiencing the hardships and destruction caused by liberalism. Once a liberal communist now turned Christian Conservative by grace throug h faith in Jesus Christ, this blog was used to exploit the faults and harmful practices of liberalism in America. By the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and not of my own doing, this blog was able to reach many readers and prayerfully change the hearts and minds of those readers.
Now called for a different purpose, The Draft Pence Movement blog is dedicated to sharing with America what the Lord Jesus Christ is doing to lead a Christian Conservative revival in America and choosing Mike Pence to be the leader of the conservative movement while gaining enough grassroots support to ensure his candidacy for the Presidency in 2008. This blog is not only dedicated to sharing intimate and descriptive details of the Lord’s work in this movement, but it is also dedicated to promoting conservative values and principles with Americans who must renew their minds first before we can renew our communities and ultimately our nation. The Draft Pence Movement is the official Draft Pence blog that will give continuous updates about a Christian Conservative revival in America, Mike Pence, and about the draft movement for Pence’s presidency in 2008.
Please join us as we fight together to spread the message of Jesus Christ, America, and Christian Conservatism.
